Chapter 25 Being Deliberate
The following morning, Yan Wan was shocked when she woke up.
She could not believe her eyes when she saw the handsome face right in front of her, and there was a negligible distance between them.
Wasn’t I sleeping at the other end of the bed last night? Why am I hugging him? And I’m the one clinging on to him…
She blushed in embarrassment, and carefully retracted her arms before Huo Lichen woke up.
Just when she was about to retract her arms, the alarm sounded. Ring… ring…
It was her alarm waking her up for work.
Yan Wan froze in shock and rigidly turned her head toward Huo Lichen and met his eyes.
His eyes were slightly out of focus as he had just woke up, and looked especially charming.
Yan Wan’s heart skipped a beat.
She hurriedly retracted her arms and jumped out of bed.
Huo Lichen’s thin lips formed a smirk as he saw her frantic expression.
“Are you just going to leave like that after clinging on to me for the entire night?”
Yan Wan’s face flushed, “I didn’t do it on purpose.”
“You did it deliberately then?” Huo Chen supported his head with his hand and gave her a meaningful and leisurely look.
Yan Wan was filled with embarrassment. She usually did not toss and turn in bed, but somehow, she had hugged Huo Lichen the previous night.
She turned her head away awkwardly, “I-I’m going to shower.”
She frantically rushed into the bathroom and realized a critical problem.
She did not have a change of clothes.
Her clothes from the previous day reeked of alcohol, and she had yet to wash them. She could not possibly wear them to work.
What now?
Just as Yan Wan was at a loss, there was a rumbling of wheels outside the bathroom, as though there was a cart being pushed.
She opened the door slightly and saw two young women pushing a rack of clothes into the room.
They greeted Huo Lichen courteously, “Mr. Huo, these are the newest clothes for the season. May we hang this in the wardrobe?”
Huo Lichen glanced at the bathroom door and knew that Yan Wan was about to come out.
He replied, “No need. You may leave.”
“Yes, sir.” The two women left and closed the door behind them.
Yan Wan walked out of the bathroom and stared at the rack of clothes in anticipation, “Mr. Huo, may I borrow a set? I’ll return it to you tomorrow.”
She was a fashion designer and was sensitive to the latest fashion trends. She had taken one look and could tell that these were limited edition branded clothing, and every set was expensive.
Huo Lichen replied plainly, “These are all for you.”
Yan Wan was in a daze as her heart started racing.
They left the villa together. She had no choice but to allow Huo Lichen to drive her to work.
When they were nearing the office, she insisted on getting off first.
“Thank you,” Yan Wan thanked him courteously by the car window.
Huo Lichen’s face fell when he saw her courteous attitude. This woman still treats me like a stranger. Oh well, there’s no hurry.
He replied gently, “See you in the office.”
Yan Wan was astonished. The last time she got off the car, Huo Chen did not even give her a second glance and drove off instantly.
This was good news.
Yan Wan walked into the office in high spirits.
Somewhere behind her, Shen Baimei had a smug expression as she held her phone. She had taken multiple photos of Yan Wan getting off the Lamborghini and smiling as she talked to the man inside.
“Yan Wan, I’ll make sure that you won’t be able to walk with your head held high in the office with these photos of you seducing your boss,” Shen Baimei smiled evilly as she watched Yan Wan walk off into the distance.
When Yan Wan reached the design department, she saw a group of women gathered together and chatting happily.
They would occasionally burst out in laughter.
Yan Wan asked a coworker, “What’s going on? Why are you guys huddled together?”
“Don’t you know? There’s a newcomer in our office! He’s young, handsome and can beat those actors when it comes to looks. He’s humorous too,” the coworker said dreamily and stood on her tiptoes to get a better look.
Yan Wan was curious as well. How handsome is this new coworker? So many people are fangirling over him.
She wanted to stand on her tiptoes to get a better look as well when a man’s clear voice sounded, “Dear coworkers, I’ll continue this pleasant conversation another time. I have to report to work now.”
The women surrounding him reluctantly formed a path for him to leave.
The man was sitting on a chair initially, but when he got up, he towered over everyone at a height of over 1.8 meters.
He was dashing and had defined features. His lips were charming, but not seductive, and his killer smile accentuated his good looks. Everyone had a good first impression of him.
He was in casual wear, but there seemed to be a lot of effort behind picking his outfit. Besides, he exuded a strong presence.
The man walked across the crowd toward Yan Wan.
He flashed a smile, “Good morning, I am Mu Ziyi.”
Yan Wan found him familiar as though she had seen him before, but could not remember exactly where she had met him.
She replied courteously, “Good morning. Is there anything I may help you with?”
Mu Ziyi extended a hand toward Yan Wan, “I’m your new assistant. I’ll be in your care.”
Yan Wan was stunned. She did not expect her new assistant to be such an attractive man.
She received countless envious stares from her coworkers and really felt the pressure.
After exchanging greetings with Mu Ziyi, Yan Wan brought him to her desk and arranged a seat for him.
Mu Ziyi placed his bag on his seat but did not sit down. He took out a box of chocolates from his bag and passed it to Yan Wan. “Here’s a gift for our first meeting.”
Yan Wan was at a loss. She was relatively new here and did not know such a culture existed.
Mu Ziyi thought that Yan Wan was embarrassed to accept it, so he shoved it into her hands with a smile, “I got one box for everyone here, so just accept it. It’s delicious!”
“Thank you.” Yan Wan only felt at ease accepting it after hearing that.
After that, she took her seat and started to arrange her files.
At the same time, she instructed Mu Ziyi, “Familiarize yourself with this work for now. I’ll give you some data after I finish sorting them out. Oh right, I didn’t know that you’re coming. Can I get a copy of your resume?”
“Sure, I’ve prepared it a long time ago.” Mu Ziyi sat beside Yan Wan and passed her his resume.
When Yan Wan read the contents of the resume, she seemed to remember something.
She was excited as she asked in trepidation, “You’re Mu Ziyi?”
