Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2955

Chapter 2955 Drunk

“How does it taste? Good?” Johann asked expectantly as he fixed his gaze on the woman in front.

Wow, Johann has such superb culinary skills! Joan nodded. With a satisfied expression on her face, she gave him a thumbs-up.

“Johann, you’re really talented, I can’t tell that you’re such a great cook!” Joan complimented the man with a glint of delight in her eyes.

She had always envied men who could cook well. However, she had simply forgotten that Larry was also a great cook.

“You should eat more if you like it,” Clara said smilingly.

It wasn’t easy for her to see Joan. The elderly woman felt a tinge of sadness as she wondered when she would get to meet the girl next.

Actually, as long as Joan wished to, she could visit anytime as she still owned the house next door. However, out of concern for her safety, Larry did not allow her to go out very often.

It’s already so late. Why isn’t she back yet? Larry stared at his phone anxiously. Should I give her a call to check? But if I do that, wouldn’t I seem too petty?

The man was caught in a dilemma as he wondered what he should do.

“That’s enough. Stop being so troubled! I’ll call her for you,” Jessica said while picking up her phone and dialing Joan’s number.

Larry let out a satisfied smile, feeling happy that Jessica knew him so well. It seems like I didn’t treat her well for nothing!

“OK, got it. What time will you be back then?” Jessica asked softly.

“Hmm, I’m not sure yet. Maybe one hour later?” Joan replied over the phone.

One hour? Larry took a deep breath to calm himself down. That woman has already been out for almost half a day! It would be 10 p.m. one hour later. Larry could not stop worrying that she would meet with danger going home alone at such an hour. That won’t do. I’m going to pick her up!

“Sure. Don’t worry and keep Mrs. Wright company a little longer.” After saying that, Jessica ended the call.

Knowing that Larry badly wanted to pick Joan up right away and would not be able to control himself, Jessica grabbed his arm to stop him from doing that.

“Don’t go. Mrs. Wright misses her a lot and just wants to catch up with her for a while more,” Jessica quickly explained.

Larry gazed at the pitch-black sky outside and was not able to conceal the worry in his eyes. Why does that old lady have so much to say! What are they talking about? Why is it taking so long!

Larry sat down on the sofa, looking extremely displeased.

“Larry, you should stop worrying. Anyway, there’s no use even if you continue to worry. Joan would still stay and accompany Mrs. Wright. That old lady only has a son and doesn’t have any daughters. I’m sure she treats Joan like her own daughter.”

Actually, Jessica had almost said that Clara treated Joan like her daughter-in-law. However, not wanting to infuriate Larry any further, she changed her mind in the nick of time.

“OK, fine,” Larry answered while he shot a glance at Jessica.

What’s wrong with this man lately? It seemed to Jessica that Larry was especially clingy to Joan recently. He would start inquiring about her whereabouts the minute she stepped away.

However, Larry was just afraid that something bad would happen to Joan. After all, she had been hurt multiple times because of him and he felt extremely guilty over that. He was upset with himself for not being able to protect and take care of Joan. He was also frustrated with himself for losing her so many times.

“Joan, what’s the matter? Are you feeling uncomfortable?” Clara patted Joan’s arm lightly while asking worriedly.

“Oh, I’m just feeling a little dizzy. Mrs. Wright, I think I’m drunk,” Joan replied softly and seemed a little disoriented.

The three of them had indeed drunk some red wine during dinner, but Johann and his mother never expected that Joan’s alcohol tolerance was so low. In fact, she had only drunk two glasses of wine and was already drunk.

Johann couldn’t help but smile as he observed the woman’s goofy mannerisms. An unfamiliar emotion seemed to have stirred up in his heart. What an adorable woman. It’s such a pity that she’s already attached.
