Never Late, Never Away Chapter 748

“I know.” Finnick nodded and shot her a grateful glance. “I can handle this. Don’t worry. At least I’ve discovered the truth of that kidnapping incident and found closure now.”

“Mm.” Vivian inclined her head. Finnick wasn’t in the mood to chat with her, so an awkward silence hung in the air.

Shortly after, a nurse dashed down the corridor hastily, seemingly looking for someone. Vivian found the nurse familiar. Isn’t that the nurse who hung Rachel up on an IV drip earlier? She rose to her feet. Is she looking for me?

After dashing around for a while, the nurse finally spotted Vivian and came to her. “Are you Rachel William’s family? I think I saw you with her earlier.”

“Yes, I am.” Vivian nodded.

“Ah, finally. I’ve been looking around for you. Where have you been?” the nurse grumbled. Why did she leave the patient alone in her room?

“I had to deal with something earlier. I’m sorry to trouble you. What is it about?” Vivian apologized and inquired politely.

“The patient has regained consciousness. You should visit her. It’s nothing serious. She’s a little weak, so make sure to take care of her health.” The nurse added, “Also, she had just come out of surgery, so you need to take care of her and make sure she gets some rest. She’s back in the hospital after being discharged just not long ago. There’s no way she’ll recover if this goes on. As her daughter, you need to pay attention to her health.”

The nurse was frowning as she studied the medical records in her hand.

As Rachel was alone in her ward, the nurse thought her children were unfilial and refused to take care of her. Hence, there was a hint of accusation in her voice.

“Okay, I got it. I’ll take note of that. Thank you for your concern,” came Vivian’s polite reply. She was upset at how the nurse indirectly criticized her for being an unfilial daughter, but it was too complicated to explain their circumstances to a stranger.

“Mm, you’re welcome. You should go to her now. Someone needs to be by her side.” The nurse couldn’t pick on Vivian’s attitude, so she left some instructions before leaving.

“Let’s go visit Ms. Rachel together.” Finnick stood up and offered.

He was displeased with Rachel’s attitude toward Vivian, but he knew Vivian still cared for her.

“It’s alright. I can visit her myself. You should rest here.” As Finnick had just suffered from a huge blow, Vivian didn’t want him to accompany her to face Rachel.

She could imagine how Rachel would chatter on about Evelyn. That thought alone was enough to make her head ache, let alone Finnick. I don’t think he wants to hear Evelyn’s name now. He should stay away from Rachel.

“I’m alright. Let’s go. I don’t want you to face her alone,” said Finnick. He got to his feet and headed to Rachel’s ward ahead of Vivian.

Immediately, Vivian grabbed his arm and came up with an excuse. “I need to talk to her in private.”

Finnick came to a stop and nodded. “I’ll wait for you at the entrance of the hospital then. Give me a call when you’re done. I’ll give you a ride home.”

“No need. I can hail a cab later.” Vivian refused his offer. She hadn’t decided about her relationship with Finnick yet, so she wanted to keep a distance from him.

“Go. I’ll wait for you at the entrance.” Finnick ignored her rejection and strode away before she could say no.
