The CEO’s Contract With The Thief Chapter 14

“So, I want to ask why a medical test is needed this early into the relationship?” She started.

“It’s most times required when couples are in a relationship, the earlier the better as it helps them know each other status’ and makes sure they are both clean and compatible medically. In our case, it isn’t necessary until we both feel the need to.”

“What if after getting tested, the test reveals that I am not clean, will the contract be terminated.”

For the first time in almost ten minutes of driving, he glanced at her to see if she was joking, but she looked anything but joking.

He awkwardly cleared his throat, “Well, if that happened I will not necessarily cancel the contract. The test is to know your status in case we ever feel the need for s*x in this relationship but it is not an ultimatum.”

Jasmin didn’t believe him, she wasn’t infected or anything because after she found out she was pregnant, she underwent all the necessary medical examination and she came out clean. Thank God.

“Do you want to have s*x with me?” She asked and she didn’t miss the way his eyes flickered around.

“I am attracted to you, but that doesn’t mean I want to have s*x with you unless the feeling is mutual. The s*x section in the contract was number six, meaning there are other things stipulated in the contract and so our lives in the next year will not revolve around just s*x. I don’t know if you understand what I’m talking about.”

“Yeah I do, but I’m clean.” She told him before adding, “I had a medical examination done four weeks ago and I haven’t been with anyone since then, but we can go for further confirmation.”

They visited the optical clinic just like Cainan had promised and after close examination and testing, the optician stated that she was suffering from partial night blindness and also confirmed what Cainan had said yesterday about the blindness being partial. He provided various option for the correction of the sight which included the use of corrective lenses such as glasses and contact lens.

Though the contact lenses looked good and simple, she found out she was allergic to them after trying them on and was left with the only other option but to pick glasses. She didn’t like the idea of having the glasses on and she was a little furious that Cainan had made it into a big deal.

“So which did you go with, the glasses or the contact lens?” Cainan asked as Jasmine walked out of the testing room to meet him.

“I was allergic to the contact lenses and I don’t want to wear glasses, but what choice do I have?” She grumbled. “I’m already compromising a lot as it is, besides my sight wasn’t a big deal before.”

He tensed at her words but chose to let it go. “Protecting yourself from further damaging your sight isn’t compromise, it is prevention and a wise one.”

Her nose scrunched up, “Easy for you to say, you’re not the one who will be looking like a dork at the end of the day.”

Cainan stuffs his hands into his pocket and stared at her in silence for so long that her body began to itch.

“Are you going to say anything?” She asked glaring at him.

His brow rose, amusement in his eyes, “What else do you want me to say.”

She folded her arms across her chest and chewed over her bottom lips like it was gum, “I don’t know, but so you know you’re terrible at being a pretend boyfriend.” She informed him, still glaring at him.

This made him chuckled and she almost regretted saying those words, “You know damn well that you do not look like a dork, you’re gorgeous and with or without glasses you will remain that way.” His eyes were fixed and unwavering from hers as he spoke those words.

Her heart skipped a beat at his compliment and she isn’t sure if he meant the words he just said if he was just playing his part as a good pretend boyfriend would. Gorgeous had never been used in the same sentence with her before and whether he meant it or not, she was greatly affected by the compliments.

“Well, thank you.” She said and walked to him hooking her arm around his and laying her head on his arm. “I just hope that at least I’ll be able to get a fancy new pair of glasses.”

She didn’t get a fancy new pair of glasses though, she ended up with a round-shaped pair of glasses for her oval-shaped face and if nothing made it worse, Cainan insisting that it was perfect for her face made it so. She didn’t know if he was trying to cheer her on or make her feel terrible, but the latter seemed to be winning.

Her vision had become a lot clearer and the headache she usually blamed on the pregnancy was also gone and she realised it was her eyes way of sending messages to her brain to get them fixed all along, they weren’t as okay as she thought they were and thank God Cainan persisted, but she wasn’t going to tell him that.

“I will be heading back to the office once we get tested, the medical fitness is done and your survey for a new apartment is over but we will grab breakfast as we head there.”

She didn’t argue with him and just nodded. She knew what it meant, but maybe it wasn’t going to be as bad as she thought. Maybe just maybe he would be accepting of the fact that the woman he offered a contract is two months pregnant.
